Our Solid Waste Management Department is going to be opening the sign up portal for our Trash for Cash litter pickup program on Wednesday February 17th at 9 am. Signups will be open for 24 hours at the following link: http://forms.gle/c39MkWDLQF4zrKLj9. The link is NOT open right now and will not go live until 2/17 at 9am.
Thanks to the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet’s Division of Waste Management grant programs, Franklin County Solid Waste receives funding each calendar year to facilitate roadside litter cleanups with local school and non-profit groups. Each February, the signup form will open for 24 hours to all groups interested to register for a chance at a spot in the year’s cleanup opportunities. A random lottery drawing is then completed for the number of spots that the Solid Waste Coordinator can accommodate given the amount of funding received from the State. Groups are contacted within a week of the form closing, and given further instruction at that point in time.
Organizations that are awarded a spot are required to complete a roadside cleanup in exchange for program funding – up to $1500. Groups will receive $100 per mile up to 15 miles (both sides of the road) cleaned. All equipment needed, including safety gear, is provided by Franklin County Solid Waste.
To enter: groups should be prepared with their W9 and an anticipated clean up date. The link for sign ups will be posted again in the weeks prior to the sign up date, but the form will only be open during the specified time limit. Please contact the Solid Waste coordinator with any questions, at 502-875-8751 or brittany.woodward@franklincounty.ky.gov.
