Franklin County Judge/Executive Michael Mueller declared the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month during last night’s Fiscal Court meeting. The proclamation highlights the need of our community to work together to protect our children, who are our most valuable resource, and who will shape the future of our community.

Jody Spaulding, Advocacy & Outreach Coordinator for the CASA of the Bluegrass, was in attendance to accept the proclamation.

A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is a trained community volunteer who stands up for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or dependency and are involved in the family court system. Appointed by a family court judge, these volunteers are empowered to speak up for a child’s best interests and help ensure their voice isn’t lost in a complex legal and care system.
