2026 PROPOSED TAX RATE
VIDEO TELECONFERENCE PUBLIC HEARING
The Franklin County Fiscal Court will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. CT via video teleconference for the purpose of obtaining citizens comments from the public regarding the proposed tax rate.
Per KRS 61.826, this meeting is a video teleconference meeting and one or more members of Fiscal Court may participate via video teleconference. The primary location will be in the Franklin County Fiscal Court, 321 West Main Street, Frankfort.
All interested persons in Franklin County are invited to attend the public hearing to view and/or provide verbal comments. Written comments will be accepted and should be sent to Andrew Tippett via email at andrew.tippett@franklincounty.ky.gov or by US Mail at Franklin County Fiscal Court, Attn: 2026 Proposed Tax Rate Public Hearing, 321 West Main Street, Frankfort, KY 40601.
Comments submitted should be timed to be received prior to the start of the public hearing.
The tax rate levied last year was 18.3 cents per $100 and produced revenues in the amount of $7,632,936. This year's compensating rate is 17.30 cents per $100 and will produce revenues in the amount of $7,662,907. The Franklin County Fiscal Court proposes a tax rate of 17.9 cents per $100 which will produce a total of $7,928,673 in revenues.
Revenue expected from New Property is $0; revenue expected from Personal Property is $2,381,868; revenue expected from Motor Vehicle is $876,045; and revenue expected from Watercraft is $25,705.
Revenue received in excess of last year's revenue will be allocated for general government purposes.
The Kentucky General Assembly requires that the Franklin County Fiscal Court publish this notice with the above information contained herein.
