Gene “Duke” Wilburn is currently finishing up his first week on the job as Franklin County’s new Road Superintendent. He was hired during the last Fiscal Court meeting after the recent retirement of long-time superintendent Jon Mitchell. Wilburn reports that his first week has been positive and that he is starting to settle into the position. He is a native Franklin Countian who has lived near Devil’s Hollow for the past 18 years.
His previous work experience includes stints at the County Road and Fire Departments. He has also served as a fireman for the City of Frankfort. One of the most pressing issues on his plate is overseeing the construction of the new road department facility. However, Wilburn is looking forward to continuing his work in public service leading the Road Department. Please join us in welcoming him to this new position.
