Judge Mueller and the Franklin County Fiscal Court congratulate Detective Jamie Watson from the Sheriff’s office. He was recognized by the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association and awarded the Medal of Valor for his actions in life-saving measures. On October 28th, 2022, Deputy Watson, while off duty, at his personal residence, came to the aid of a citizen in his neighborhood who was gravely injured by a gunshot wound after an altercation. Additionally, he was able to detain the suspect of the crime until local law enforcement arrived on the scene.
Deputy Watson’s actions not only saved the life of the shooting victim; but, also, prevented the incident from becoming far worse. His actions also helped protect the lives of nearby school children who were being dropped off from their school bus near the scene at the time.
