Judge Wells joined Governor Andy Beshear and Mayor Layne Wilkerson in welcoming visitors to the Inaugural Kentucky Commonfest, a beer and bourbon tasting event hosted on Capitol grounds today from noon to 5 pm.

Kentucky breweries and distilleries came together to celebrate the significance of the Kentucky Common beer style – one of only three beer styles created in the United States – in this first-of-a-kind event. This family-friendly event also featured music, art vendors, a farmers’ market, and food trucks.

This event was part of Team Kentucky’s kick-off celebration of Derby week festivities in our community. “I was very excited to attend this new celebration kicking off Derby Week in Franklin County,” Judge/Executive Wells said. “It brought our local distillers and brewers, such as Sig Luscher, and community together in a way that is uniquely Kentucky distilled. This is always a special time in our state, and I predict that Kentucky Commonfest will quickly become a staple among our other traditional events.”
