New recycling changes thanks to Lexington’s upgrades to the Material Recovery Facility.
Our Solid Waste department has shared the updated graphic below regarding what is now acceptable in curbside recycling carts. This includes: #1 and #2 plastic bottles, jugs, and jars; glass bottles and jars; dry cardboard and paperboard (including fridge/freezer boxes); steel and aluminum cans, canisters, and lids; paper; and food and beverage cartons (think stock/shelf stable milk/orange juice/etc.). Our Solid Waste department would like to remind residents to please not bag recycling, make sure that all contents are removed (including a quick rinse for stubborn foods), and flatten your boxes to optimize space in your cart.
