Effective immediately. Due to a mechanical failure at the Lexington Recycle Facility, all recycling collected by Central Kentucky Hauling in the County will be taken to the landfill for at least the next month, or until the replacement part needed arrives.

County Solid Waste encourages residents to try to hold their recycling (plastic bottles and jugs, steel and aluminum cans, and corrugated cardboard) through this period, if possible. Anything that is put into the recycle cart will be landfilled at this time. Central Kentucky Hauling asks that all items put into either carts at this time are bagged and sealed properly.

The paper drop offs are still operating, for ACCEPTABLE PAPER PRODUCTS only. Please do not take any additional trash or recycling to these locations, as it will contaminate the paper product and reduce it’s value.

Please stay tuned for future updates and changes. Remember, this is temporary and the County will return to regular recycling practices when possible.
