FRANKLIN COUNTY FISCAL COURT
NOTICE OF VIDEO TELECONFERENCE PUBLIC HEARING 2020 PROPOSED TAX RATE

In accordance with KRS 61.823, KRS 61.826, 2020 Senate Bill 150 (and specifically its section (8)(b)) and the March 31 Attorney General Advisory, the Franklin County Fiscal Court will hold a video teleconference (VTC) public hearing at 5:00 p.m. on September 8, 2020 for the purpose of obtaining comments regarding the proposed tax rate. One or more members of Fiscal Court may participate via VTC. Per KY Attorney General Opinion 20-05, public attendance will not be permitted at this meeting, due to the highly contagious nature of COVID-19, as it is not feasible to provide a central physical location for public attendance. The primary location of the hearing will be at Franklin County Fiscal Court, 321 West Main Street, Frankfort. The VTC will be broadcast live on the Franklin County Fiscal Court Facebook Page at www.facebook.com.

Those wishing to submit written or verbal comments may do so via one of the following options:

  • Video Teleconference — Contact Andrew Tippett, Internet & Technology Coordinator, by email at atippett@franklincountyky.com to obtain the VTC log-in information necessary to participate; or
  • Written Comments — These will be read aloud during the public hearing and may be submitted by email to atippett@franklincountyky.com or by U.S. Mail to Franklin County Fiscal Court, Attn: 2020 Proposed Tax Rate Public Hearing, 321 West Main Street, Frankfort. Written comments must be received in the office no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 8, 2020..

The tax rate levied last year was 18.70 cents per $100 and produced revenues in the amount of $6,041,461. This year’s compensating rate is 18.1 cents per $100 and will produce revenues in the amount of $6,104,016. The Franklin County Fiscal Court proposes a tax rate of 18.70 cents per $100 which will produce a total of $6,306,359 in revenues.

Revenue expected from New Property is $52,550; revenue expected from Personal Property is $1,072,597; revenue expected from Motor Vehicle is $636,105; and revenue expected from Watercraft is $20,701.

Revenue received in excess of last year’s revenue will be used for County employee retirement benefits.

The Kentucky General Assembly requires that the Franklin County Fiscal Court publish this notice with the above information contained herein.
