Roads across the county have gradually improved over this afternoon. However, as the sun sets this evening temperatures will begin dropping into the teens and possibly even the single digits. This means that roads will become icy and hazardous once again. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of salt greatly declines once the temperature drops below 20 degrees Therefore, the available interventions by our road crews are extremely limited.
Once again, we ask that everyone stay off the roads after dark unless travel absolutely necessary. Tomorrow morning, after sunrise, the temperature is forecasted to increase which will allow the conditions of the roads to improve significantly.
